Remembering Peterlee: A Journey through Living Memory
We believe that it’s crucial to preserve the stories and experiences of those who have lived in Peterlee.
Established as a response to the changing times, Living Memory invites the people of the town to come together and share cherished memories. Whether you are a current or former resident or someone from a neighboring village who remembers Peterlee’s early days, your stories matter.
The Living Memory initiative encompasses a publication, an exhibition, and an accessible online archive that eventually will be housed at The Story, Durham’s new history centre due to open next year. From photographs to memorabilia, every contribution helps build a legacy for future generations.
Mark your calendars for the Living Memory exhibition, set to take place at Castle Dene Shopping Centre from Friday 3 November to Saturday 27 January 2024. It’s a chance to delve into the past, connect with the present, and appreciate the journey of a remarkable community. Visit us often and share your stories.
